NGOs and CBOs (community-based organizations) play a critical role in addressing the needs of marginalized populations around the world. However, these organizations often struggle to attract funding to support their work. One way to overcome this challenge is to harness the power of digital technologies, such as Audiopedia. Audiopedia is a digital solution that was selected for the Digital-X catalog through an extensive selection process by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This platform can help NGOs and CBOs reach more people and have a greater impact in their communities, which can make them more attractive to potential funders.

Digital X is a Partnerships for Scale Programme by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) that helps innovative digital solutions scale globally. This initiative is designed to connect UNDP and Governments with proven, ready-to-scale solutions to meet urgent digital needs.

‘Proven’ in this context means that the digital solution is mature in its product development, has significant ‘results in the real world’, and has measurable and meaningful high-impact indicators linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. ‘Ready-to-scale’ refers to the fact that the digital solution has to be safe to use by thousands of users and can be deployed in a new country with minimal adaptation or effort, if the conditions for scale are met (like genuine government buy-in and language needs met).

It is worth noting that there are many organizations and foundations that may be able to provide funding for NGOs and CBOs using digital technologies to provide education to marginalized populations. Some of these organizations include:

  1. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: This foundation focuses on improving healthcare and reducing poverty in developing countries. They have also invested in improving education through technology, specifically through their "Global Libraries" initiative which aims to provide access to technology and information to libraries in developing countries.

  2. The Ford Foundation: This foundation focuses on issues of social justice and inequality, including education and economic opportunity. They have a specific program on "Equal Opportunity and Special Populations" which addresses the needs of marginalized communities and aims to improve access to education and technology.

  3. The Rockefeller Foundation: This foundation focuses on addressing global challenges in areas such as health, food, power, and economic mobility. They have a program called "Digital Jobs Africa" which aims to improve access to digital skills training and employment opportunities for youth in Africa.

  4. The MacArthur Foundation: This foundation focuses on promoting a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. They have a specific program on "Digital Media and Learning" which aims to support the development and use of digital media and technologies to enhance learning and participation in society.

  5. The Open Society Foundations: This foundation focuses on promoting human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. They have a specific program on "Information Program" which aims to support the development of independent media, access to information and freedom of expression, and the use of new technologies for social justice.

  6. The Mastercard Foundation: This foundation focuses on improving the lives of people living in poverty, with a specific focus on young people in Africa. They have a program called "Young Africa Works" which aims to create jobs and economic opportunities for young people through digital skills training and access to technology.

  7. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP): This organization aims to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development. They have a specific program on "Digital for Development" which aims to support the use of digital technologies for sustainable development and to bridge the digital divide for marginalized communities.

  8. The World Bank: This organization aims to reduce poverty and promote economic development. They have a specific program called "Connecting for Development" which aims to increase access to information and communication technologies (ICT) in developing countries, with a focus on marginalized communities.

  9. The Global Fund for Community Foundations: This organization aims to support community foundations around the world to be sustainable, effective, and responsive to local needs. They have a specific program called "Community Philanthropy for Digital Inclusion" which aims to support community foundations in using digital technologies to increase their effectiveness and outreach.

  10. The Bernard van Leer Foundation: This foundation focuses on improving the well-being and development of young children living in poverty. They have a specific program called "Urban95" which aims to promote the development of healthy and safe environments for young children in urban areas, with a focus on access to technology and digital literacy.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive and that the grant-making criteria for these organizations may vary. Additionally, these organizations may have different priorities and focus areas, so it would be best to visit their websites and check their funding opportunities to find the most suitable one.
